
The Gujarati Comedy Group brings out the best in local talents and comedy performances. The UK arising stars started to bring Gujarati comedy to the Haymarket Theatre and have also performed at the Belgrave Neighbourhood Centre, which is situated in the heart of the Asian community. Being in a multicultural city with the vast majority being Asians, the Gujarati Comedy Group has tried to bring light comedy entertainment for the diverse community.
Our success has been earned by our team effort, we have raw local talents within our team, who comes from all walks of life. They all participate their talent in many ways. Our aim and objective is to encourage the local talent from the multicultural community across the board, age, class and backgrounds hold no barrier in our group.
We are the first Gujarati Comedy Group who has proudly represented the multicultural talent in their comical sketches. Achieving many fun filled evenings, in which all ages and groups have enjoyed, we have successfully established ourselves. Having performed our plays since 2004 running success, we are well renowned in representing our Gujarati Comedy Sketches for the Leicester Comedy Festival.
Achieving our aim for recognition the Leicestershire Comedy Festival Award nominated our group, with the support of our community naming it one of the best comedy play ever made, calling the show "Must-see" we won the title of being the best new comer Gujarati Comedy Group. This was an honour for us, as we were the first new comer Gujarati group in history to receive such a prestigious outstanding award.
Our plays are consisting of traditional and modern theme, with dances featuring individual parts that are largely self-contained in comedy situation. We’ve based our plays in sitcoms situation usually consist of recurring characters in a common environment such as a family, home and workplace. The events of the parts resolves themselves by the conclusion of the part. Mostly our format is based on real life events,the show always has two or three ongoing stories taking place at any given point in the show's run. Our aim is to provide our audience with hilarious comical parts without any vulgarity. This is the objective which makes our group immensely popular and outstanding, and we aim to continue this format all the way through. The play focuses on the lives of a group of eight-ten, life episodes of growing pains from teenage to infinity-something.
